Tires and Jobs.

Monday is usually the day I whine and complain because it is Monday, except for today. I didn't have class today because we have finals the rest of the week, so we get this wonderful Monday to study. Which I am not doing. Every time I studied for Marna's Anthropology tests I do worse than when I study. So I will just briefly look at my notes tonight, and right before the test, and then hello Interstate and Montana! This morning I woke up around ten a.m. because I had to pee. I knew drinking all that water before bed was a bad idea, but I was thirsty. I laid in bed until I decided I wasn't going to fall back asleep and tried to be productive. I re-wrote my letter to my dad for his birthday, I cried a little bit. He is truly a wonderful man. I then remembered I needed to go put air in my flat tire. Yeah, yeah, I now know you aren't supposed to drive on a flat tire, but I didn't know that. I just drove to the Texaco down the street and tried to put air in the tire. As I was getting out of my car to put air in the car my phone rang. It was the admissions department where I had previously applied to be a tour guide. The girl told me Matthew, the head guy, wanted to meet with me personally this week. I explained how I was headed home tomorrow so we would need to meet today, we set up the appointment for 1:30 p.m. Happily I got out of my car and tried to get air in my flat. I sat there for about seven minutes waiting for it to start filling up, which it didn't...so I called my papi. I explained to him that my tire is flat, my hubcap is missing, and there is a little tear in the tire. He said tires don't usually just tear, so it probably was stabbed..."Uh, WTF?" was all I could think. Who would want to slash my tires?! Anyways he told me I needed to change the tire to the spare in the trunk...I told him I had no idea how to change a tire...Bad idea. I got a nice little lecture about how he tried to show me once, I didn't pay attention..Whoops! I cried a little and he told me he wasn't mad but I needed to read the manual and change the tire. I filled my car up with diesel then pulled the car to where I wouldn't be seen by many people. I wiped up my tears and pulled out the manual. The directions were pretty simple, so I began feeling okay about it all. I popped the trunk and moved my survival kit my parents made me have to the back seat, along with the television I had from my dorm room. A white car pulled up next to me and a man scurried into the Texaco. It took me forever to get that spare tire out of the trunk. Those bugs just don't give you much wiggle room in those trunks. I was all ready to change this tire. I had the wrench on the bolts and I was struggling to turn it clockwise. I stood on it, jumped up and down a little bit, and tried to use my muscles but it was no use, it wasn't going to budge. All of a sudden the man from the white car comes behind me and asks if I would like some help. "YES, please!" I exclaimed. He stood on the wrench and hopped on it a little bit till the bolt moved, he did that to all of them. He then jacked the car and pulled the wheel off. He pushed the new one on there and bolted it together. It was so simple, and he was so quick at it. He was Mr. Energizer bunny too. Told me how he worked for the paper service for 12 years and never missed a day, such a dedicated worker! I thanked him, and he insisted on putting my spare back. Graciously I let him, I thanked him again and watched him drive away. I called my dad and asked what to do now. He told me to go to a tire center and get a new spare. I only had an hour until my interview with Matthew so I decided the tire could wait and I needed to go get ready.
I went to meet with Matthew at 1:20 and I was in a good mood. This meeting had to be good, why would they ask me to have another interview if they were going to tell me I didn't get the job? That didn't make much sense. And I was right. They offered me the position as a tour guide, I couldn't stop smiling. They couldn't officially offer me the job until after I cleared my background check and filled out a I-9, but that would be a piece of cake. Well turns out I don't have the correct legal documents at school to be able to fill out the I-9 accurately, so that has to wait till after spring break, but Matthew was okay with that.
I then just had to take my car to the tire place and get a new spare. The first place I went, Les Schwab, doesn't carry Cooper Tires, which I need, and so they sent me to Ellensburg Tire Center. Which did, but couldn't warranty out my tires because we did not buy them there. They sold me a used tire for $40 to get me back to Montana. Thank heavens. So all in all, the tire thing was my fault. Guess I should have listened when my dad gave me car 101. Next time I will listen. So maybe I had a flat tire, but my problem of being jobless is now cured! Yay! It's a job I really want to do also, can't wait till after spring break to get started. But I better clean my dorm and wash some dishes, then think about studying for Marna's test...We'll see how that goes. Au Revoir! XOXO
